Arriving in a new country can create a lot of stress and questions if we think about the settlement times. This is quite normal, but many free services, even before your departure, are in place to guide your first steps. You can even benefit from the services before your arrival.

Reception and settlement services

Reception and settlement centres in Alberta are not-for-profit organizations that provide newcomers with information and orientation services, support in finding housing, social service support, and more.

Health and wellness

The Réseau santé albertain (RSA) ensures the health in French of Albertans for more than a decade. With the support of volunteers and in partnership with health professionals and the provincial health system, the Réseau santé albertain supports, raises awareness, coordinates, mobilizes and influences to improve access to health services in French. 

Early childhood services

Early childhood services are essential not only for the integral development of children, their initiation into French culture, but also to support parents in education strategies so that children grow up with a total balance.

French education

There are currently close to 40 francophone schools in Alberta. They are managed according to their geographical location by four French-speaking school boards: the Centre-Est School Board, the Centre-Nord School Board, the Nord-Ouest School Board N°1, and the FrancoSud School Board.

Rights and responsabilities

The Association des Juristes d'expression française, with its Clinique juridique Centre albertain d'information juridique supports those in need to know their rights and responsibilities. Individualised advice can be provided on an individual basis by competent persons.
