Services offered in reception centres
Reception and settlement centres in Alberta are not-for-profit organizations that provide newcomers with information and orientation services, support in finding housing, social service support, and more.
Upon your arrival at these settlement services, your needs and those of your family will be assessed. You will be directed to resources in the community that will meet your different needs.
In addition to needs assessment and referral services, the employees, who are your advisors, can support you with issues related to your immigration process in Canada, inform you through information sessions and group workshops, connect to different community resources, accompany you towards health services as well as integration in a school environment and much more.
The school-based integration program is carried out in partnership with the school boards and aims to meet the settlement and integration needs of immigrant students and their families. Several services are offered, such as homework assistance, summer camps, and other extracurricular activities.
